Blur and Radiohead will struggle for musicians’ rights

A number of musicians announced the establishment of Featured Artists' Coalition (FAC), an organization that will defend musicians’ rights. There are already 700 members in this coalition, including Blur, Radiohead and Kate Nash, as well as Klaxons, Kaiser Chiefs and Robbie Williams.

FAC members already had a meeting with Culture Secretary Andy Burnham to discuss a loophole in copyright law that allows DVD makers not to pay musicians for using their music. According to some reports, nine out of ten DVDs are released this way.

Currently, FAC are going to turn into legitimate organization. «This is a lively group of people who are interested in artists' voices finally being heard», said Blur drummer Dave Rowntree.
