Black Sabbath to re-release five old albums

Sep 09, 2009
Black Sabbath announced plans to release the remastered versions of the band’s old albums recorded with Ozzy Osbourne as a singer. All in all, five albums will be reissued: Vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (both hit the stores in 1973), Sabotage (1975), Technical Ecstasy (1976) and Never Say Die! (1978). All of them will hit the stores on September 21.

However, the conflict between Black Sabbath’s members is still unfinished. Guitarist Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne will meet in court to decide the ownership of the band’s name. Legendary singer has filled a suit against his former bandmate, saying that Iommi illegally claimed the band’s name.

Osbourne asks for 50 per cent interest in the Black Sabbath trademark and a portion of his profits from use of the name. Osbourne also states that his recognizable vocal is one of the reasons why Black Sabbath became successful. According to his words, Black Sabbath lost its popularity when he left the band in 1980. Iommi, in his turn, claims sole ownership of the band’s name.

Black Sabbath formed in 1968 and enjoyed huge success after releasing 1970’s album Paranoid.
