Beyonce will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards

Beyonce was officially announced to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards 2009. The singer will perform her new single Sweet Dreams from the 2008 album I Am... Sasha Fierce.

Beyonce lead the nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards 2009 along with Lady GaGa. Each of the pop-stars were nominated for nine awards, including Video of the Year category. The main award can also be won by Kanye West, Eminem and Britney Spears.

Coldplay were nominated for five awards, including Best Rock Video. They will compete with Green Day, Paramore, Kings Of Leon and Fall Out Boy. Kanye West and Eminem represent Best Hip Hop Video category.

The MTV Video Music Awards 2009 will take place in New York on September 13. It will feature performances by Green Day, Pink, Taylor Swift and Muse, who promised to premiere new single Uprising at the ceremony. Jay-Z, Lady GaGa, Nelly Furtado, Katy Perry and Ne-Yo were also announced to perform at the event.
