Beastie Boys’ member to release a movie about William Burroughs

Production company Oscilloscope, which belongs to Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, is set to release new documentary movie about William Seward Burroughs this summer. Titled William S. Burroughs: A Man Within, it was directed by Yony Leyser and features such artists as Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and others.

The movie will be shown in cinemas in the US and later released on DVD.

William Burroughs, famous writer, is best known for his book Naked Lunch. He also recorded track The Priest They Called Him together with Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, and appeared in music video for U2 song Last Night On Earth.

Beastie Boys were set to release new album Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 in 2009, but it was delayed after Adam Yauch has been diagnosed with cancer. He had to undergo a surgery later and currently is receiving extensive treatment.

The record is set to hit the stores in September 2010. It will be Beastie Boys’ eighth studio album. Their previous record, named The Mix-Up, hit the stores in 2007.
