Arctic Monkeys to draw inspiration from The Smiths

Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner claimed that he was inspired by The Smiths while working on the band's last album Suck It And See. Musician said that he was not trying to copy them, but the record turned out to be very similar to their style.

"I love The Smiths. I don't know if I was listening to a great deal of it while I was writing Suck It And See but I don't mind that coming through in our songs at all", said he.

Earlier Alex Turner claimed that he feels tired of writing romantic songs. At the same time, according to his words, he cannot help himself from composing them. Talking about the work on Arctic Monkeys' last album Suck It And See, he said that songs like Piledriver Waltz were written very easy.

"I am a romantic fool, no doubt about that. I can't help myself but write those songs. I spend a bit of time sitting on the couch with an acoustic guitar – taking breaks, having a cigarette, going to the window then going back. When you do that, you end up doing a lot more of that romantic stuff, probably too much", claimed he.
