Arcade Fire and Google launched joint project

Sep 09, 2010
Arcade Fire have launched a pioneering project together with Google, based on the Google Street View web service. By visiting www.thewildernessdowntown.com website you can watch the band's music video for the song We Used To Wait. Before pressing "Play" button, you can type in any address you want to see images of the area incorporated into the clip.

This application works only with Google's recently developed browser Chrome and only with cities contained in Google Street View database.

The "main" part of the video shows a hooded figure running along the empty streets.

We Used To Wait is the single from Arcade Fire's new album The Suburbs that was released on August 2, 2010.

According to Arcade Fire, the work on The Suburbs continued during past two years in Montreal and New York. The record was produced by Markus Dravs, who worked on the band's previous album Neon Bible.

Arcade Fire said that the album itself became "more upbeat" than their previous works, although it was based on the band's "usual heavy-orchestral string arrangements".
