Famous composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is interested in buying Abbey Road studio, which was put on sale by its owner EMI. The official statement by Webber’s spokesperson says that musician «thinks it is vital that the studios are saved for the future of the music industry in the UK».

EMI Group has to sell Abbey Road studio due to financial problems – the company recently reported an annual loss of £1.5 billion. EMI will sell both the property and the brand name – according to the reports, company’s profit may exceed £1 billion.

Abbey Road was originally bought by EMI for £100,000 in 1929 and became the world-famous studio. The list of artists who worked here includes The Beatles, Oasis, Radiohead and many more. Webber is also related to Abbey Road, where he worked on the soundtracks for his musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and Love Never Dies.

Webber’s spokesperson added that the composer «has probably brought more musicians to record there than anyone else».

Earlier this week Sir Paul McCartney urged to save Abbey Road and claimed that several famous persons, related to the studio, were ready to buy it.
