Alan Moore scrapped up his collaboration with Gorillaz

Watchmen and V For Vendetta creator Alan Moore claimed that he has stopped working on the opera about medieval magician John Dee, which he was set to write together with Damon Albarn. Collaboration between Blur frontman and famous comic writer was announced last November. It was also said that the project would feature Gorillaz members.

«It's based on the life of John Dee, who was a very influential force in Elizabethan Europe, especially England. He was an alchemist. It's about his life I've just been reading about Hermetic magic and catalysts and philosophy, which is what all of Dee's stuff is based on», claimed Damon Albarn.

However, according to Alan Moore, he was the only one actually working on the project, while «nobody else had done anything else».

«I should dash cold water on anybody's dreams of this Doctor Dee opera with Damon Albarn and Gorillaz. It didn't work out shall we say. I already wrote a third of it, but nobody had done anything else upon the opera», claimed Moore.

Gorillaz yesterday released new single On Melancholy Hill from their last album Plastic Beach.
