Akon has answered to Will.I.Am's criticism of upcoming album Michael. The Black Eyed Peas' member recently slammed Sony for decision to remake and release Michael Jackson's unfinished songs, saying that it was "disrespectful".

Akon – who took part in the work on upcoming album – said that his only aim was to keep "Michael Jackson's legacy alive". "I think that's probably Will.I.Am's opinion. Me, personally, I think that's keeping his legacy alive. I don't see anything disrespectful about it. He got his people taking care of it", said rapper.

He added: "We all did records that we actually worked on together on the album. These records would have come out whether he was alive or dead, so I think this actually helps to keep his legacy alive. I honestly disagree with that".

Will.I.Am said earlier: "Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they're finished. Maybe if I never worked with him I wouldn't have this perspective. He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals".

Meanwhile, the first single from Michael was already released. Titled Hold My Hand, it was recorded with the involvement of Akon.
