Adele repeats David Bowie's and Dire Straits success

Adele has equaled David Bowie and Dire Straits by the amount of time spent at the first place of UK's album sales chart. After her second studio effort 21 topped last week's listing, singer has got 22 times she was a leader.

Adele now shares the third position with Bowie and Dire Straits. Madonna is second with 29 weeks spent on top of the chart. Ultimate leaders are The Beatles with 174 weeks.

Sales of Adele's music have significantly increased after singer's consecutive success at Grammy Awards (February 12) and Brit Awards (February 21) ceremonies. All in all, according to Official Charts Company, sales of Adele's song increased 37% all over the world through last week. 21 and singer's debut album 19 have broken the mark of 6 million copies bought.

Adele herself revealed that she felt "proud" to become the main triumphant of this year's Brit Awards. Singer left the ceremony – that has taken place yesterday night – with two honors. She was named Best British Female Solo Artist, while her studio effort 21 was praised as Album Of The Year.
