Jul 07, 2011
Adele's second studio effort 21 has become the biggest selling digital album in US ever with 1.017 million copies of the record bought through digital services. It has overcome Eminem's Recovery that has 1.006 million copies sold.

According to the reports, there are only two albums that have almost similar numbers – The Fame by Lady GaGa and Mumford And Sons' debut studio effort Sigh No More.

All in all 21 has been sold 2.6 million copies in US, which means that digital services provided almost half of the overall amount.

Meanwhile, Adele's single Someone Like You was praised as the first single in UK to sell more than one million copies this decade. Meanwhile, singer's second studio effort 21 is the biggest selling album this year.

In May Adele and her team topped The Guardian's annual list of the most influential persons in British music industry. Singer was placed higher than Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, who became second, and famous music and TV producer Simon Cowell, who was third.

List creators pointed that through this year Adele's second studio effort 21 was one in every ten albums bought in the UK.
