LCD Soundsystem is the American producer James Murphy’s musical project. The style of the band includes dance music, elements of punk and disco. LCD Soundsystem were noticed in 2002, when they released their very first single Losing My Edge. Pretty soon that composition became a hit and it was followed by two other singles Give It Up and Yeah, which were good enough to turn popular as well. On February 2005 the band issued the debut double disc album LCD Soundsystem. The first CD was the album proper and the second one contained previously released singles. The opening track Daft Punk Is Playing at My House became one of the most recognizable compositions of LCD Soundsystem, and that song was included into several computer games soundtracks, such as Burnout Revenge, FIFA 06 and others. In 2006 the band received two Grammy Awards: they became the best in nominations Best Electronic/Dance Album with their debut record LCD Soundsystem and in Best Dance Recording with Daft Punk Is Playing at My House.

In 2006 Murphy released his track 45:33. Curiously enough, it is actually 45 minutes and 58 seconds long. Later James stated that his simply wanted to create a long composition. It is obvious that he succeeded in that. In 2007 the band enlarged its discography with the second studio work titled Sound of Silver. That record received fair reviews and very high ratings from such famous and prestigious musical magazines as NME and Rolling Stone. The Guardian called Sound of Silver the best album of the year, and in 2008 the second studio work of LCD Soundsystem received Grammy Award in nomination Best Electronic/Dance Album.

In 2008 the band started working on a new album: the musicians were recording in Los Angeles. On February 2010 the official band’s website announced that the new album This Is Happening was finally completed, and the composition Drunk Girls became the first single from new record. Later James Murphy stated that This Is Happening was probably the best LCD Soundsystem album so far. Also he added that This Is Happening could become the last work of the band. Anyway, that album is a great present for all the dance music lovers. Musicians had been working on it for two years, and the original mix of various musical styles, created by LCD Soundsystem will not leave anyone indifferent.
