Flo Rida, Mail on Sunday

Mail on Sunday review

Rapper Flo Rida's much expected debut album

Florida born rapper Tramar Dillard professionally known as Flo Rida has started his career two years ago but came to prominence with his super hit single Low performed with T-Pain. The song has become one of the most often played at night clubs and broke the records of Internet downloads last November. His second single featuring Timbaland is called Elevator and is a success as one of the most popular songs on the radio. Finally at the beginning of spring the rapper's much expected debut album Mail On Sunday is released. Interesting with the variety of topics from clubbing, money and women to fighting and troubles, and also the most different aspects of relationships, Mail On Sunday pleases with a significant number of guest stars which is a sign of the rapper's valuable ability to work as part of a team. Big-name producers involved include Timbaland, Will.I.Am and J.R. Rotem, and the album on the whole presents a quality collection of music perfect for any club party or just having a good time.

Flo Rida is the central figure on Mail On Sunday

Despite the prevailing number of collaborations on the record the central figure on Mail On Sunday is still Flo Rida for it is his tough rap and good vocals for a rapper that set the leading mood on compositions. The album opens with a tense and somewhat nervous track American Superstar featuring Lil' Wayne with a great arrangement refined with back vocals Flo Rida's brilliant verses. Autobiographic song Ack Like You Know on which the artist is making his own conclusions on the principles best to follow in life is remarkable for a catchy chorus but it never makes it to outshine the hit Elevator. On this danceable composition Flo Rida and Timbaland consider various types of girls they have to deal with so the lyric is not devoid of humor and interesting life observations. Vocalist Sean Kingston joins the rapper on Roll devoted to gambling. Beyond all doubt the leader of the album with all its good points still remains the wonderfully contagious single Low telling of a mysterious stranger that conquers the whole club. The record's mood changes to a more reflective and even sadder with song Still Missin' where a piano and more melodious chorus appears but as Will.I.Am shows up on track In The Ayer Flo Rida once again returns to dancing. Composition Freaky Deaky featuring Trey Songz is almost a classic R&B number refined with a pleasant sensual beat and the album closer is another club track Money Right performed with Rick Ross and Brisco.

A ready made collection of songs for clubbing audience

A good ear, an ability to rap, a certain portion of boldness, charm and ability to work as part of a team are all the qualities that have by all means helped the artist currently residing in sunny Miami to achieve what many can only dream of. Of course today he would like that the debut album is the same successful as the first single and the facts say that it is very probable to happen so. First, Mail On Sunday is a ready made collection of songs that are so much to the liking of clubbing audience, with a distinct contagious beat, frank lyrics and great arrangements. Second, Flo Rida himself is quite a reserved person not too willing to boast and at the same time he possesses enough of impudence and pride that permit him to be on the same level with other hip hop celebrities. Finally it is the guest stars on Mail On Sunday due to whom there is the necessary variety of voices and intonations on the record so it is never boring. This promising debut lets us believe that Flo Rida has a chance to reach the more heights than he has already conquered and probably his next creation will be welcomed with a loud applause.
