Bryan Ferry

Biography

Famous British musician Bryan Ferry was born in 1945 in English city Washington. For numerous music lovers his name is associated with the band Roxy Music’s creativity, however Ferry was also very successful in his solo career and he released many strong and original albums. Bryan’s composition regularly peaked at the top lines of world charts, which proved the highest level of the singer’s skills.

Ferry has been interested in various arts since his very childhood. Of course, Bryan enjoyed the music, but also he was pleased by visual art. Thus, he entered the painting faculty of University of Newcastle upon Tyne (it is worth mentioning that Ferry had his own two-week exhibition in 1967). One way or another, the singer was inseparable with the music: he formed a rhythm-n-blues band The Banshees. A bit later he became a member of the group called The Gas Board, where he met the future bassist of Roxy Music.

Roxy Music’s line-up was complete by 1971, so the musical experts acclaimed the new group and noted both their progressive music and an amazing sense of humor. Albums Roxy Music (1972) and For Your Pleasure (1973) attracted numerous listeners’ attention, while Bryan Ferry created a reputation of an extremely talented front man and singer. Being the leader of Roxy Music, Ferry still found the time and strength to create solo albums. His debut record titled These Foolish Things saw the light in 1973. It included original cover-versions of Bob Dylan’s A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, The Rolling Stones’ Sympathy For The Devil and other compositions. Bryan’s interpretations were really enjoyed by the listeners, and that fact was proved by the Golden Status of These Foolish Things.

The artist always had plenty of ideas that were realized in his studio attempts. For example Ferry recorded the album Boys And Girls (1985) together with such famous musicians as Guy Fletcher, Omar Hakim and David Gilmour. Of course the result turned out to be wonderful: there was no surprise that Boys And Girls took the first line of the UK Chart. Bryan’s new long play titled Olympia was issued in 2010. There are absolutely no doubts in that album’s quality. Olympia proved to be traditionally strong, while its signature atmosphere and mood will be enjoyed by the singer’s old fans and by many lovers of honest and original music.
